Teaching Prep 1

Thursday 8 October 2026

After assessing their agendas for the first major grade of the second quarter, students began planning their mini-lesson teaching unit on the five time management techniques we went over last lesson. The main goal for the day was to get a broad overview of the project (which will ultimately go into Power School as "Student Time Management Mini-Lessons") and what they'll be responsible for as we move through the project. This means that our organization unit will spill over into the second quarter a little bit, but that is not a problem.

Today's Journal Prompt

What do you think is the most challenging aspect of teaching a class? Think about a recent lesson in another class: what do you think was involved in getting that lesson ready? What do you think was the most challenging part of the lesson (for the teacher)?

Student Time Management Mini-Lessons

Mr. Scott's Journal Entry

The most challenging aspect of being a teacher when I first began was lesson planning. I could never determine how long it would take to complete a given activity, and I ended up with a few dead minutes at the end of class a few times. When I moved back to the States and began teaching here for the first time, I was experienced enough to have a grasp of lesson pacing, but I'd never experienced in Poland some of the behavior issues I took on that first year. Classroom management was unquestionable the biggest challenge those first years in the States.
