Thank You Notes

Monday 25 August 2025

Today was a varied Monday: we began with our journals (as usual), using the rubric to complete some basic self-assessment. I'll be making the first journal assessment this week, so students are going to see if their view of their own work is similar to mine or not. (Usually, students are too hard on themselves.)

After journal writing, we went over how students could have figured out what homework was due today if they'd forgotten. (Hint: it involves their agenda and this website.)

We ended the day writing thank you notes for some special people (don't want to give it away). Students worked together to create notes expressing their gratitude for all that GPA offers them.

A common theme: "Thank you for not having us do benchmark tests!"

Today's Journal Prompt

Make sure you have a copy of the journal rubric. Review the rubric. What grade do you think you will receive and why? Where is your journal the strongest? The weakest?

(Friday's prompt: What do you remember about playing hearts from last week? Write down how you would explain it to someone who doesn’t know how to play.)

Homework

If you did not turn in your "Thank You, Ma'am" paragraph today (see last Thursday's update), make sure you get that to me tomorrow.

Due date:
