Finishing First Goals, Starting Organization

Tuesday 8 September 2026

Today, B-day students had the opportunity to review and correct any issues with their SMART goals, which I checked over the weekend. Since the SMART goal assignment serves as their first major grade, students who received a deduction were given the opportunity to make the necessary corrections and resubmit their work. Students who take advantage of this opportunity can earn back half of the points they originally lost, giving them a chance to improve their grade while also reinforcing the importance of setting clear, specific, and achievable goals.

During the last half of class, we began a short unit focused on organization. We discussed the importance of staying organized and used our room (the horrors!) as an example. We'll be looking at how effective organization can help students manage their time, keep track of assignments, reduce stress, and be more successful in school. Additionally, students will learn strategies they can use to improve their organization and will continue building on these skills throughout the unit.

Today's Journal Prompt

How would you rank your organization skills? Are organization and neatness the same things? Can you be organized but untidy? How long does it take you to find something in your room?
