Jigsaw Reading: Presenting and Teaching

Wednesday 26 August 2026

We have been working toward setting our first quarterly goal for our sixth-grade students, and we have been learning some classroom engagements students might encounter in other classes. This week, we've been using a jigsaw reading engagement to help students work through our article on goal setting.

Students last session (Monday and Tuesday) read their portion of the text with their groups and collaborated to create a summary of the text. Today, A-Day students got into four new groups in order to share their summaries and teach the other students about their portion of the text.

B-Day students tomorrow will be doing the same thing. We'll begin setting our actual goals on Monday.

Today's Journal Prompt

Why do people sometimes give up on their goals? What can you do when you feel like giving up?

Homework

Work on any journal entries that might be incomplete or missing.
